In Room 9 we have started reading the book 'Holes' by Louis Sachar. It is about a boy named Stanley Yelnats who was arrested and chose to go to Camp Green Lake instead of Jail. The place wasn't green and there is no lake. Some students from Room 9 have written about what Camp Green Lake was like.

At camp green lake it is boiling under the sun or even under the shade. The lake is all dried up. There are scorpians and rattle snakes. There are the most vicious creatures called yellow spotted lizards, if they bite you, you will die. The holes are from the campers who camp there. Two trees stand beside the dried up lake, and there is a hammock between the tree, and behind that there is a cabin. Some people say that if a bad boy stays in the sun too long he will turn to a good boy.

Camp green lake is not like a camp. Nothing is green. I'm going there for a crime that I did not do. I had 2 choices: 1. Camp Green Lake. 2. Jail. I chose camp green lake. It was dried up. It was horrible. No water no food. I had to do something. I made a fire. I hunted for food. It was hard. Oh no, the yellow black lizard. Yessss I killed it. The bus is back, id better get on.

Camp Green Lake. The most dried up blistering wasteland. There was yellow spotted lizards, scorpions, rattlesnakes and HOLES. This place is the no-good-terrible-camp.

Camp green lake is a dried-up deserted wasteland in Texas that is boiling hot. All the naughty boys go there to dig holes under the blistering hot sun. There is no shade to be found for miles except for two trees that have a hammock hung in between them. Behind them was a wooden log-cabin, you wouldn't dare go and rest there because it was the wardens shade and nobody elses. WARNING!!! Scorpions and rattlesnakes hide in the holes made by campers (Their bites aren't deadly). Be careful and watch out for yellow spotted lizards, if they bite you you might as well go and get some shade because you are going to have a slow and painful death so you may as well enjoy your last moments of your life in the shade.

The scorching hot wasteland with scorpians and rattlesnakes. By the way, I'm Stanley Yelnats. Im on this bus, it now seems as if I'm in the middle of nowhere. Im going to camp green lake. It actually sounds scary. Wooh, that was a big bump back there. Where are we?

The dusty dry wasteland gets dryer by the minute. While we walk around I see scorpians and rattle snakes hiding under rocks. While the campers dig holes they get deeper and deeper.
